A blood test is when a sample of blood is taken for testing in a laboratory. Blood tests have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test.
A blood test usually involves the phlebotomist taking a blood sample from a blood vessel in your arm. and the usual place for a sample is the inside of the elbow or wrist, where the veins are relatively close to the surface.
Adults
We offer appointments for blood tests at Greet Health Centre, 50 Percy Road, Greet. B11 3ND on Saturday mornings or at Springfield Surgery during the week.
Children
Under 12 years. Children’s blood tests are taken at Heartlands Hospital. Please speak to the surgery for more information.
12 years and above. There is a walk in service at Birmingham and Solihull Hospitals, Monda to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm. If your GP thinks you need a blood test, they will provide a form for this.
