Order from Reception – see below for details but please don’t phone for repeat prescriptions
Please tick the required medication on the repeat slip you were given with your previous prescription and either place it in the box next to reception or post it to the surgery. Please include a SAE if you would like the prescription to be posted back to you. If you don’t have a repeat slip you can write a note including your name, address, DOB and contact details together with the names of the medicines you need.
Pharmacies are no longer allowed to order medication on your behalf unless there are exceptional circumstances that must be approved by Springfield Surgery.
Collections
The prescription can be collected from the surgery or be sent to a preferred local chemist, please make this clear when you make your request. Please note that it takes 48 hours (two working days) to process so leave plenty of time to order your repeats to ensure your medications do not run out. Please do not telephone for repeat prescriptions.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
*NHS charges
- Prescription (per item): £8.80
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
- 3-month PPC: £29.10
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
